Mental Time Travel (MTT) is the remarkable capacity that allows us to traverse the tapestry of our lives, reconstruct past events, illuminate the here and now, and imagine the future. From mammalian neuroscience, human brain imaging, and the neuropsychology of memory we can piece together an integrated theory of and its relationship with perception and learning. Using computational models, based on generative deep learning processes, we are beginning to test the sufficiency of this theory to support human-like recall and prediction in humanoid robots.
